About Beyond Gender Europe

Europe is where the affirmative model of youth gender medicine was invented, in the Netherlands, and where it was first abandoned, in Sweden and Finland. Beyond Gender talks to the clinicians and researchers who lived through both. This site gathers those episodes.

Why a European site

The gender debate is often told as an Anglo-American story. It is a European one. The Dutch protocol that gave the world puberty blockers for children came from Amsterdam. The first national health authorities to withdraw from it were Finnish and Swedish. Norway, France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands itself have since reviewed their own practice. Beyond Gender has interviewed the people involved, and this site collects those conversations for listeners on the continent.

What you will find here

The episodes page lists every full conversation, with the European ones first. Each episode has a page with the video, a summary written for a European audience, the guest's name and the theme. Guests have their own pages. The hosts, Stella O'Malley, Mia Hughes and Dr Bret Alderman, are introduced with attention to what each brings to the European picture. New episodes appear automatically after they go live on YouTube.

Point of view

The podcast and this site are gender-critical. They regard the Nordic retreat from medical transition of minors as the evidence-based position and the Dutch protocol as an experiment whose results did not justify its export.
